The Oneworld Alliance’s Global Explorer fare, unlike Oneworld’s regular RTW fare, allows you to not only fly on all the Oneworld Alliance carriers, but a few others as well: Qatar Airways, Gulf Air and Air Pacific to name a few. With 23 airlines to choose from, this unique fare provides a formidable match to the 27 member Star Alliance offering.
Although the fare rules can seem a bit daunting, in my view, these RTW fares are the way to go. Compared to most simple roundtrip first or business class fares, you’ll find the pricing surprisingly reasonable for the amount of travel possible. For example: a full fare roundtrip first class ticket from New York to London can set you back $20,000, however the first class Global Explorer fare can be had for $14,999. Obviously, if your strapped for time, a trip around the world may not be a possibility, but with that extra $5,000 a quick trip trip to Dubai and Tokyo on your way home can be achieved: Not to mention all those frequent flyer miles!
